IGP DISU APPOINTS NEW POLICE SPOKESMAN
The Nigeria Police Force has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Iniedu Okokon as its new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), marking a new chapter in the management of the Force’s public communications and media relations.
CSP Anietie succeeds Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid, who held the position for approximately three months following the assumption of office of the 23rd Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.
Before his appointment, CSP Anietie served as the Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he was involved in addressing public complaints and strengthening communication between the police and members of the public. His experience in public engagement and institutional communication is expected to support his responsibilities in the new role.
The newly appointed Force PRO is from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He is also the son of the late Commissioner of Police, CP Okokon Iniedu, who previously served as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command.
The appointment places CSP Anietie at the forefront of police-public communication, a role that includes providing official information, engaging with the media, and promoting transparency on matters concerning the Nigeria Police Force.
As he assumes office, stakeholders will be watching how the Force continues its efforts to strengthen public trust, improve communication, and enhance engagement with citizens across the country.
