By Wuddeama Manga// The Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps (NCCC) has successfully concluded its National Security Prayer – Enugu State Summit, during which the Enugu State Command of the Corps was officially commissioned amid renewed calls for peace, patriotism, and collective responsibility toward national security.

The summit, themed “Peace Be Still: Every Wind of Insecurity, Violence and Fear Ceased; There’s a Great Calm Over Enugu,” brought together government officials, security agencies, Christian leaders, traditional stakeholders, and patriotic Nigerians in a united intercessory gathering for the peace and security of Enugu State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Representatives of key security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), were present at the event, demonstrating a shared commitment to promoting peace, security awareness, and constructive collaboration with faith-based organizations.

Speaking at the summit, the Corps Commanding Officer of the Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps, Chaplain Daniel Joe Alimi, described prayer as a moral and spiritual responsibility capable of strengthening national unity, inspiring righteous leadership, and encouraging citizens to support lawful efforts toward peace and security.

During his lecture, Chaplain Daniel Joe Alimi unveiled what he described as a deeper divine mystery concerning the patriotism, biblical roots, divine interpretation, and authority of Enugu State.

He explained that Enugu State, with its signature slogan, “Coal City State,” was officially created by the former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, on August 27, 1991, having been carved out of the old Anambra State, with no formal divine authority behind its creation.

However, he stated that the local populace (citizens of the land) believes and associates their governance with spiritual undertones and a divine narrative and has formally and culturally adopted the motto, “Enugu State is in the Hands of God.”

According to him, the motto signifies the people’s reliance on divine guidance in political affairs and reflects the belief that the State’s leadership, security, and socio-economic progress have been dependent on a divine mandate and spiritual covering.

Ending the lecture, Chaplain Daniel Joe Alimi led participants in prophetic prayers and declarations for peace over Enugu State. He declared an end to the winds of violence, fear, kidnapping, bloodshed, and other forms of insecurity across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, calling each Local Government Area by name during the intercessory session. He further extended the prayers to cover the more than 400 communities across the State, praying for divine protection, peace, unity, righteous leadership, and lasting security.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to partnering with government institutions, security agencies, faith-based organizations, and community leaders in advancing moral discipline, peacebuilding, humanitarian service, and national development.

The summit also featured the official commissioning of newly admitted chaplains into the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps. The newly commissioned officers received strategic lectures and professional guidance from senior representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), who emphasized discipline, professionalism, integrity, respect for constituted authority, and constructive collaboration with security agencies in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The summit concluded with prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and all citizens of Nigeria.

Among dignitaries and senior officers present were executives of the Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps from Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Benue States, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Also in attendance were the Corps Public Relations Officer, Chaplain Daniel Eloyi Ocholongwa, Chaplain Emmanuel Ogbu, Chaplain Joel Ezirim, Chaplain Michael Ninikanwa, Chaplain Osita Paschal Chukwu, and other senior officers and members of the Corps.

The National Security Prayer – Enugu State Summit reaffirmed the Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps’ vision of promoting patriotism, moral leadership, peacebuilding, humanitarian service, and constructive partnership with government institutions and security agencies in the pursuit of a peaceful, secure, and united Nigeria.
