UNCOORDINATED RECONCILIATION EFFORTS MAY DEEPEN DIVISIONS WITHIN APC IN OYO STATE’, ASPIRANT PENS OPEN LETTER TO APC
The aftermath of the primary elections left the All Progressives Congress, APC unsettled in many states of the federation. The case with Oyo State turned another dimension with the recent open letter by one of the aspirants into House of Representative, Dr. Ismail Adewoyin who aspire for Saki West, East and ATISBO Federal Constituency. Adewoyin alleges lack of genuine reconciliation that could give the party victory in the 2027 General Election.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE APC LEADERSHIP IN OYO STATE
By Hon. Ismail Adewoyin PhD, House of Representatives Hopeful for Saki West, Saki East and ATISBO Federal Constituency.
UNCOORDINATED RECONCILIATION EFFORTS MAY DEEPEN DIVISIONS WITHIN APC IN OYO STATE
As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for the 2027 General Elections, I have observed with growing concern the manner in which the ongoing reconciliation efforts are being undertaken across Oyo State.
It is no longer news that the processes leading to the emergence of the first consensus list, which contained my name as the consensus candidate for the Saki West/Saki East/Atisbo Federal Constituency, the subsequent second list, and eventually the much-anticipated final list, naturally generated expectations, disappointments, and grievances among aspirants and their supporters. Such outcomes inevitably require careful management through structured pacification and reconciliation.
However, reconciliation cannot be meaningful without first addressing the concerns of those directly affected. The contestants who participated in the process deserve to be pacified before efforts are extended to their supporters. Unfortunately, the approach currently being adopted by some of the beneficiaries of the exercise and certain party leaders who coordinated the process appears uncoordinated and counterproductive. Rather than healing wounds, it is creating deeper divisions within our great party.
A clear example is the media exchanges currently taking place among party faithful supporting the three co-contestants in Oyo North Senatorial District. These public disagreements should concern every sincere stakeholder of the APC. Equally important is the seeming silence among the House of Representatives aspirants, particularly in the old Ifedapo Federal Constituency, where I belong. Such silence should not be mistaken for acceptance or satisfaction. Beneath it lie unresolved grievances that require genuine engagement.
If the APC truly desires lasting peace and electoral success in 2027, I respectfully recommend the following steps:
1. The party leadership should first reconcile among themselves and present a united front capable of inspiring confidence across the state.
2. All concerned aspirants should be genuinely pacified, with their grievances fairly heard and addressed in the spirit of justice, equity, and party unity.
3. The aspirants themselves should then be empowered to pacify their supporters, thereby laying a solid foundation for genuine reconciliation throughout the party.
4. The unity of our party must remain paramount. Our collective objective should be to reclaim Oyo State in 2027. Time is no longer on our side. This is the appropriate moment to commence coordinated statewide campaigns rather than engaging in piecemeal reconciliation efforts that resemble the informal settlement of disputes without clear structure or purpose.
5. Our political opponents are already traversing every zone of the state, mobilising support and engaging the electorate. We cannot afford to remain distracted by internal disagreements while others are preparing vigorously for the elections.
6. We must unite and put our differences behind us. However, genuine unity can only be sustained where justice, fairness, equity, and equal opportunity prevail. Without these fundamental principles, reconciliation will remain superficial and may not produce the desired results.
The APC remains the party with the capacity to provide purposeful leadership for Oyo State. Achieving that objective requires sincerity, inclusiveness, mutual respect, and justice for every stakeholder.
History has shown that a divided house cannot effectively confront a united opposition. Let us therefore embrace genuine reconciliation built on fairness rather than expediency, so that together we can reposition our party for victory in the 2027 General Elections.
