RE:ALLEGED EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY POLICE OFFICERS AT PAKO BUS STOP, LAGOS-BADAGRY EXPRESSWAY DURING SANITATION HOURS

By Olayiwola Ibrahim // Lagos // In line with the Lagos State Police Area E Command’ allegations involving extortion scandal from motorist over sanitation movement restrictions in Lagos.

The Lagos State Police Command has taken note of a publication currently in circulation on social media alleging that some Police officers extorted a motorist along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, has directed the Area Commander, Area E, within whose jurisdiction the incident reportedly occurred, to immediately identify the officers involved and carry out a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Command hereby appeals to the complainant, Mr. Olusola Ajose, and any other person with relevant information to come forward with evidence that can assist the investigation.

This may include photographs, videos, vehicle registration numbers, or any other material that can help in identifying the officers involved.

The Lagos State Police Command wishes to state categorically that it does not condone extortion, harassment, or any form of unprofessional conduct toward members of the public.

Any officer found culpable at the end of the investigation will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with the laws and regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command remains committed to upholding professionalism, accountability, and the protection of the rights of all residents of Lagos State.
