Egbetokun Celebrates Vice President’s Life Of Service, Patriotism

Former Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., has felicitated the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, on his 60th birthday, describing the milestone as a celebration of a life defined by service, sacrifice, leadership and enduring patriotism.

In a congratulatory tribute issued on behalf of the Egbetokun family, the former police chief extended his warmest felicitations and profound goodwill to the Vice President, noting that attaining the age of 60 offered not merely an occasion to celebrate longevity, but a rare opportunity to reflect on a distinguished journey in the service of humanity and the nation.

Egbetokun described Shettima as a statesman of considerable intellectual depth, courage of conviction, strategic foresight and uncommon humility, whose public career has been marked by an unwavering commitment to the common good.

He noted that from the Vice President’s early years in public administration and banking, through his tenure as Governor of Borno State, and now his service as Nigeria’s Vice President, Shettima had consistently demonstrated a profound understanding of the responsibilities that accompany leadership.

According to him, the Vice President’s record reflects a leadership philosophy anchored on responsibility, sacrifice, compassion and the ability to inspire confidence, adding that he has brought to public office a rare combination of experience, intellect, courage and empathy.

The former IGP particularly commended Shettima for his steadfast loyalty, institutional discipline and invaluable partnership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the Vice President’s contribution to supporting the President’s vision and strengthening the administration’s response to the country’s economic and developmental challenges remained significant.

“At a time when our nation requires leaders with the courage to take difficult decisions, the wisdom to pursue sustainable solutions and the humility to listen to diverse voices, your service as Vice President continues to demonstrate the importance of principled partnership and collective responsibility in national leadership,” Egbetokun stated.

He stressed that Shettima’s 60th birthday should therefore be regarded as more than a celebration of age, but as an opportunity to honour a life of purpose, a career of public service and an enduring commitment to the Nigerian project.

Egbetokun also acknowledged the Vice President’s contributions to national stability, progress and development, expressing confidence that his continuing service would yield lasting dividends for the country and generations yet unborn.

While praying for the Almighty God to continue to sustain Shettima, the former IGP wished the Vice President sound health, abundant wisdom, renewed strength and enduring grace to navigate the responsibilities of national leadership.

He also prayed for the continued progress of the Vice President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
