Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted sharply to a viral video of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during a public engagement where he was asked to outline five performance indicators.

Olayinka’s reaction was contained in a post shared on his official X handle on Friday, April 17, 2026, shortly after the video began circulating online and generating political debate among supporters and critics.

In the video, Peter Obi was seen responding to a question from a member of the audience who challenged him to list five key performance indicators that define governance success. In his response, Obi referenced issues such as insecurity and electricity, stating that he had consistently spoken about them alongside other governance concerns.

He said: “I have talked about the issue of insecurity, I have talked about electricity and so many other things.”

While Obi’s supporters viewed the response as a broad reference to policy priorities he has frequently highlighted, critics interpreted it differently, arguing that it lacked the structured enumeration requested in the question.

Reacting to the clip, Lere Olayinka took a critical stance, using the moment to question Obi’s suitability for national leadership. He suggested that the exchange revealed weaknesses that, in his view, justified skepticism about Obi’s presidential ambition.

In his post, Olayinka stated that Nigerians should consider themselves fortunate for not having elected Obi into office, implying that the video demonstrated insufficient depth in governance articulation.

He wrote: “Listen to Peter Obi’s response and tell me why Nigerians should not be grateful for escaping this bullet.”
