An Edo deputy governorship candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mrs Herberta Okonofua, says fellow partyman and torch bearer for the party,  Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, cannot win.

Okonofua who said this during a courtesy visit to the party disputed National Chairman, Ali Modu-Sheriff, said Ize-Iyamu is only campaigning for her faction to win.

Okonofua is running alongside Mr Mathew Idurioyekemwen.

Both factions of the PDP have gubernatorial candidates for the Edo gubernatorial race coming up Nov. 10.

The Modu-Sheriff faction has Idurioyekemwen as candidate while the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee has Ize-Iyamu as candidate.

According to Okonofua, any candidate who buys forms from the Committee cannot win the Edo election because he is in the wrong fraction.

”What the court says, the only person that can submit PDP gubernatorial candidate to INEC for Edo and Ondo States, is Sheriff.

”The court also said that starting from the date of last convention, May 21, what happened in Port Harcourt signed by Makarfi was illegal, null and void.?

”So I don’t know why they are deceiving Nigerians. Instead of following the rule of law they are there wasting their time.

”Unless we can go and change Nigerian constitution overnight, that is different thing altogether, they are only just trying to destroy our party by wasting people’s time, making pronouncement and plans that will not even get out of their backyards.

”If Pastor Ize-Iyamu likes, let him campaign from now to a thousand years to come, the governorship candidate for Edo State is Matthew Idurioyekemwen.

”Nothing can stand on nothing. There is no basis for his candidacy. He cannot come from non-existing caretaker committee and rush to say you’ve come a candidate of PDP.

”I will wait for INEC to formally publish the list of candidate on Thursday before leading the governorship campaign in Edo State, ” she said.

She said Nigeria was a country governed by the rule of law and it was unacceptable for anyone to act against what the law said
