The Interfaith Forum for Peace, Justice, and Dialogue (IFPJD) has expressed concerns about Malawi’s governance and political affairs. In a statement, the IFPJD highlighted pressing issues such as hunger, political intolerance, and executive actions.

In a statement they decried that Malawi has struggled with economic instability, leading to widespread hunger and poverty.

The IFPJD condemned the growing trend of political intolerance, which threatens the country’s democratic progress.

They said with elections looming, the IFPJD raised concerns about irregularities in the preparatory process.

The IFPJD also sided with Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa, who faced criticism for his remarks on the plane crash inquiry.

While commending the government for instituting the inquiry, the IFPJD condemned the derogatory words and opinions directed at the archbishop.

The IFPJD is a grouping of distinguished faith leaders formed in 2019 to promote tolerance and co-existence among all people, regardless of their political, regional, tribal, or religious divides.

Malawi has a complex political landscape, with a history of corruption and governance challenges.

The country has made progress in strengthening its democratic institutions, but more needs to be done to address the pressing issues facing its citizens.
