CHAKWERA’S VISION FOR MALAWI’S FUTURE: PROGRESS IN INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AND FOOD SECURITY

By Michael Martin//MALAWI

President Lazarus Chakwera has called on citizens to exercise patience as his administration enters its second half, coinciding with the country’s election year.

Chakwera emphasized that people are judging his performance based on the first half of his term, during which his government has been addressing the mistakes of the previous administration.

Speaking while swearing in newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers, Chakwera cautioned them to prioritize the interests of Malawians over their own political agendas.

This move marks a significant step towards fulfilling his campaign promises and restoring trust in the government.

In his New Year’s message, President Chakwera highlighted the progress made in various sectors, including infrastructure development and food security.

He noted that the government has mobilized over 300 billion kwacha in off-budget support to procure emergency food for 5.7 million Malawians affected by drought conditions.

Despite the progress made, Malawi still faces significant challenges, including inflation, food insecurity, and economic instability.

President Chakwera acknowledged these challenges and expressed confidence that with unity and determination, Malawians can overcome them and build a brighter future.

As Malawi embarks on a new journey in 2025, the country’s citizens will be watching closely to see how President Chakwera’s administration addresses these challenges and delivers on its promises.
