ALIMOSHO UNDER SIEGE: IMPOSITION OF CANDIDATES SPARKS OUTCRY AND DEVELOPMENTAL STAGNATION

By Olayiwola Ibrahim, Activist and Journalist // The recent primary elections held in Alimosho Local Government Area, specifically in Ikotun LCDA and Egbe Idimu LCDA, have ignited a firestorm of discontent among residents.
The blatant disregard for the democratic process and the imposition of candidates by leaders have left many questioning the future of these areas.
The people of Alimosho, Ikotun, and Egbe Idimu have been crying out for good governance and developmental progress, but it seems like their pleas are falling on deaf ears.
The continuous neglect of the rightful winners of the primary elections and the imposition of favored candidates have become a recurring decimal in these areas.
This undemocratic trend has not only disenfranchised the electorate but also perpetuated a system of bribery and corruption.
The lack of infrastructural development and progress in Alimosho, Ikotun, and Egbe Idimu can be directly linked to the selfish interests of leaders who prioritize personal gains over the welfare of their constituents.
The Oba of Ikotun and other chiefs, who are supposed to be custodians of tradition and progress, have been accused of being complicit in this charade.
Their silence and inaction have emboldened these leaders to continue their undemocratic ways.
It is imperative that the people of Alimosho rise up and demand better leadership.
The days of tolerating leaders who prioritize personal interests over the needs of the people are over.
We need leaders who will prioritize the development of our infrastructure, education, healthcare, and overall well-being.
The question remains that how long will Alimosho continue to suffer under the weight of bad leadership? When will the leaders learn to put the interests of the people first? The answer lies in the hands of the people.
It is time for us to take a stand and demand a better future for ourselves and for generations to come.
In a call to action, we urge the people of Alimosho, Ikotun, and Egbe Idimu to reject this imposition and demand a return to the democratic process.
Let us stand together and fight for our rights to good governance and developmental progress. The future of our areas depends on it.
While calling for a protected Ballot,
let us ensure that the will of the people is respected and that those who win elections are allowed to take up their positions without interference.
Anything less is a recipe for stagnation and underdevelopment.
