Ondo Police Arrest Suspected Arms Manufacturer — CP Lawal Reiterates Zero Tolerance for Illegal Firearms
By Morris Nor// The Ondo State Police Command has recorded yet another operational success in its sustained efforts to rid the State of illicit arms and curb violent crimes. Acting on credible intelligence on 15th October, 2025, detectives attached to the Yaba Divisional Headquarters, Ondo, stormed Eyingun-Owode, Ile-Oluji, where one Kareem Fatia ‘m’, aged 53, a suspected arms manufacturer, was arrested.
A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of three single-barrel guns, three Dane guns, and one unfinished gun barrel, all discovered in a nearby bush located behind the suspect’s residence. Upon interrogation, the suspect made useful statements to the police regarding his involvement in the illegal fabrication and sale of firearms.
During the course of investigation, two other individuals were also arrested in connection with the offense. The Command is currently working to establish possible links between the suspect and violent crimes within the State, as well as to identify individuals or groups who may have been receiving his illegal supplies.
Preliminary investigations have been concluded, and the principal suspect, along with the recovered exhibits, will be transferred to the Command’s Monitoring Unit for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc, appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his visionary leadership, operational guidance, and continuous support to State Commands, which have significantly strengthened intelligence-driven policing and operational efficiency nationwide.
CP Lawal further appreciated the professionalism of the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering resolve to enforce the law against all forms of illegal possession, fabrication, or trafficking of firearms.
He cautioned those engaged in such unlawful activities to desist forthwith or be prepared to face the full weight of the law.
