By Olaywiola Ibrahim // Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, has publicly distanced himself from the decision to expel Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fintiri stated that the expulsion would not be in the best interest of the party and could lead to further crisis.

In a statement, Fintiri emphasized his commitment to peace, unity, and reconciliation within the PDP, saying, I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Gov. Wike, from the PDP.

Fintiri’s rejection of the expulsion is seen as a significant intervention, given his prominence within the PDP Governors’ Forum and reputation as a stabilizing force.

His stance may influence other leaders to reconsider hardline strategies and explore reconciliation with Wike.

The expulsion, announced at the PDP’s National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, has sparked controversy and highlighted deep internal tensions within the party.

Fintiri urged stakeholders to prioritize healing divisions and striving for unity and cohesion, saying, Peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party.
