Police in Area 3, Lilongwe have arrested an 18-year-old woman, Prisca Leman, on suspicion that she stabbed and killed her boyfriend, 25-year-old Kingsley Magombo, after a dispute broke out between them.
According to Lilongwe Police spokesperson Inspector Hastings Chigalu, the incident happened on Saturday in Katantha, Area 38.
He explained that earlier in the day, the couple had gone to Kaphiri, where Kingsley operated a shabeen.
Chigalu said while there, Kingsley’s parents reportedly expressed their disapproval of the relationship between the two.
“Prisca and Kingsley, however, ignored the parents’ concerns and left the place together.
“They proceeded to another location, where a disagreement erupted between them.
“During the argument, Prisca is said to have picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed Kingsley in the chest,” he said.
Chigalu further added that after the stabbing, she attempted to rush him to the hospital in an effort to save his life.
Sadly, Kingsley was pronounced dead upon arrival due to excessive loss of blood.
Angry community members attempted to attack Prisca in retaliation, but police intervened and rescued her. She is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the incident.
