There is renewed hope that police operations in Dedza will improve following the donation of a building to be used as an office by law enforcement officers.

The building has been provided by members of the local business community as part of efforts to support security services in the district.

Deputy Officer in Charge for Dedza Police Station, Stain Mwalweni said the donation will help ease the challenge of inadequate office space.

He explained that the shortage of working space has mainly affected officers from the Criminal Investigations Department and the Traffic Police.

Mwalweni said the new office space will improve efficiency and coordination among officers.

He has since urged police officers to take good care of the building and use it responsibly.

The deputy officer also encouraged officers to continue strengthening their relationship with the community to enhance security in the district.

Meanwhile, Simon Itaye, whose company Puma Filling Station donated the building said the gesture is a way of giving back to the community.

Itaye noted that businesses depend on peace and security to thrive.

He further pledged continued support towards addressing other challenges facing the police, saying this will contribute to improved security in Dedza.
