FAKE NAVY CAPTAIN, ACOLYTES ARRESTED IN OWORONSHOKI OVER IMPERSONATION
By Morris Nor// The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested three individuals, including a fake Nigerian Navy Captain, James K. Robert, for impersonating naval officers to intimidate residents and obstruct government operations in Oworonshoki, Lagos. The suspects were apprehended during a demolition exercise of illegal shanties and encroachments on government land.
The Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, revealed that the suspects had been under surveillance due to repeated confrontations with Taskforce officers and complaints from residents. The fake captain’s uniform had several inconsistencies, including improperly worn service ribbons and missing regimental insignia.
The Nigerian Navy’s Naval Police confirmed that the individual was not a serving officer, and the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation. The Taskforce chairman assured that the suspects would be prosecuted by the appropriate military authorities, serving as a deterrent to others who impersonate security personnel.
