BREAKING: POLICE PENSION BILL SPARKS CONTROVERSY AS SENATE PRESIDENT’S SILENCE FUELS SPECULATION
Wuddeama Manga// The Nigeria Police Force Pension Bill, aimed at exempting Police personnel from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), is stuck in limbo, sparking outrage among Police retirees. Despite being passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, the bill’s whereabouts remain unclear.
Police retirees, who’ve been protesting for their exit from the CPS, claim the bill was transmitted to President Tinubu on February 25, 2026. However, other sources indicate it’s still with the Clerk to the National Assembly.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s silence has fueled speculation, with many calling for him to address the Public. “The ball is now in Akpabio’s Court,” said a Police Retiree. “We need clarity on the bill’s status.”
The delay has sparked concerns about the Government’s commitment to Police welfare. “If the bill isn’t signed into Law, we’ll take further action,” warned the Police Retired Officers Forum.
The Public is watching, and it’s time for Senate President Akpabio to speak out. Where is the Police Pension Bill?
