Kogi Estate Agents Inaugurate Excos In Lokoja
By Ola Simon/ LOKOJA/ The executive council of Kogi State branch of the Association of Estate Agents has been inaugurated with a charge to be professional in their conduct and work towards the eradication of fraud stars in their business.
The National Chairman of the Association, Mr Kunle Adedeji gave the charge in a message to the inauguration of of the executive members of the state chapter of the Association in Lokoja.
Represented by Estate Surveyor Kehinde Ogunsanya, the National Chairman said kogi state has a great potential to thrive in the real estate business and described the establishment of the state branch of the Association as a good omen that will add value to the business.
He disclosed that the association was established in the year twenty twelve and is regularised by the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyor and Valuer.
Mr Adedeji urged them to be integrious in their dealings and avoid issues that will drag down the image of the Association.
He assured that an identity card containing vital information will be issued out to each member and a web site will be open to the public to ascertain the authenticity of the agent they are dealing with.
In a remark, the Director General, Kogi State Land and Housing Bureau, Hajiah Ladi Ado-Ibrahim, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Urban Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Ojoma, said the Yahaya Bello, led administration has embarked on series of reforms in the housing unit.
According to her, the processing of the certificate of occupancy has been made easy to allow properties owners to utilize it as a collalateral for financial transactions.
Similarly in his lecture, Estate Surveyor Ekundayo Ayodele, said agents assist in both buying and selling of properties by either representing the buyer or seller.
He listed the steps required to become an estate agent to include : education, selection of established agent for proper training and registration with the Association among others.
Ayodele explained that the business has become proliferated by fraudsters and urged estate agents to develop skills of probity, accountability sincerity and trust in their dealings warning that, the issue of fraud and unworthy conduct will be handled by the disciplinary committee of the Association.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, kogi state Chairman of the Association of Estate Agents, Chief Tony Ologun expresses appreciation to those who grease the occasion and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He assured that he will do his best to eliminate fraudsters who had drag the name of the association to the mud and urged the members to see themselves as one big family that is capable of achieving a lot for the association.
