KWARA GUBER RACE: STAKEHOLDERS FROM THREE SENATORIAL DISTRICTS IN THE STATE ENDORSE BOLARINWA FOR GOVERNOR
By Mohammed Awal/ ILORIN// A coalition of elders and stakeholders from Kwara Central, Kwara North and Kwara South senatorial districts has endorsed Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa for the governorship of Kwara State, describing him as the most qualified among the emerging contenders.
In a joint statement issued on behalf of concerned elders across the state, the group said its decision followed what it described as extensive consultations and an objective assessment of the political landscape in Kwara.
The elders said Bolarinwa, popularly known as B.O.B, possesses the integrity, experience and leadership capacity needed to guide the state at what they called a critical stage in its political development.
They described him as a man of proven honesty, discipline and transparency, adding that his public and private life reflects a deep commitment to service and the welfare of the people.
According to the statement, Bolarinwa’s political and administrative experience spanning more than two decades gives him an edge over other aspirants. The group highlighted his past roles as a councillor, local government chairman in Lagos State and member of the House of Representatives, noting that his service record demonstrates resilience, competence and the ability to manage people and resources effectively.
The stakeholders also pointed to his academic background, saying his status as a PhD holder places him in a strong position to drive socio-economic development and improve educational advancement in the state.
They further praised his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, saying he remained steadfast and committed to the party and its leadership despite political setbacks and periods of marginalisation. The group said his conduct in difficult moments showed maturity, patience and dedication to collective progress.
The statement also presented Bolarinwa as a unifying figure with support across the three senatorial districts. The elders said he has built relationships that cut across ethnic, religious and political lines, making him well placed to promote inclusive governance in the state.
They credited him with playing a significant role in the 2019 “O To Ge” political movement in Kwara, saying his grassroots mobilisation, strategic leadership and understanding of the state’s political terrain make him suitable for people-oriented governance.
On the economy, the elders said Bolarinwa’s background in business and enterprise would be an asset in government, particularly in the areas of internally generated revenue, job creation, agriculture, commerce and youth empowerment.
Describing him as God-fearing and people-centred, the group said Bolarinwa views public office as an opportunity for service and is guided by values of compassion, justice and genuine concern for the people.
The elders said Kwara needs a leader who is tested, trusted and connected to the grassroots, and expressed confidence that Bolarinwa would deliver inclusive growth, unity and sustainable development if elected governor.
They therefore declared their full endorsement of his aspiration to lead the state.
