KOGI STATE, TO RESTRUCTURE REVENUE BOARD

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Finance, Economy, Commerce, and Investment, Mr Asiru Idris, says the State Board of Internal Revenue is to adopt autonomy status by reviewing the law guiding the board to enhance its statutory role of revenue generation.
Mr Idris stated thus while speaking with newsmen today in Lokoja.
He said Kogi state will soon adopt the policy practised in States like Lagos Kano and of recent Kwara to boost its internally revenue generation.
According to him, the board will be changed to Kogi Internal Revenue Service which is expected to operate as s private entity.
The Special Adviser explained that the Board will be relocated to the former office of the Federal University Lokoja to ensure a befitting avenue for their day to day activities and transaction.
Mallam Idris assured that the state will explore every available avenue including forestry , mining and as well create a conducive environment that will attract both local and foreign investors. He noted that all leakages will be blocked and wastages curtailed in view of the dwindling revenue.
He called on the people of the state to be supportive of the present administration in its effort to change the situation for better adding that, the Governor with some members of his cabinet recently met with Dangote to figure out the renovation of Obajana – Kabba road.
