MAN BEHIND BARS FOR KILLING PREGNANT WOMAN IN LILONGWE

A devastating incident has shaken the community in Lilongwe, Malawi, after a 20-year-old pregnant woman, Alinafe Zaniku, was found dead in a lodge room in Area 25.
According to the reports, the police have arrested Enathi Ng’oma, 33, Zaniku’s boyfriend, in connection with her murder.
“On November 25, 2024, Zaniku, who was eight months pregnant, was discovered lifeless in a lodge room.”
A postmortem examination revealed that she died from severe anaphylactic shock due to a lethal injection in her left arm.
The police launched an investigation, which led them to Ng’oma, who was apprehended in Blantyre.
The police analyzed call logs and received tips from well-wishers, which aided in Ng’oma’s arrest. Ng’oma, from Kabamila Village in Mzimba, is expected to appear in court soon to face a murder charge. Zaniku hailed from Nankuza Village in Lilongwe.
Malawi has struggled with high rates of violence against women, including domestic violence and femicide.
According to the Malawi Police Service, cases of violence against women have increased in recent years.
The government has implemented various initiatives to combat this issue, including the establishment of the National Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response Strategy.
