● Kambanje praises early leadership performance

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is anticipated to address the nation this evening in a nationally televised broadcast.

According to a statement released by State House, the President will deliver New Year’s goodwill messages to the people of Malawi as the country marks the beginning of a new year.

The national address is scheduled for 8:00 this evening and is expected to outline messages of unity, hope and national direction for the months ahead.

The address comes at a time when many Malawians are reflecting on the past year while looking forward to improved economic stability and development in the year ahead.

Meanwhile, the Concerned Citizens group has commended President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for what it describes as notable positive changes recorded within the first 90 days of his leadership.

Speaking in an interview, its leader Edward Kambanje said the early months of the President’s administration have shown signs of progress compared to the same period last year.

Kambanje recalled that during the same timeframe last year, Malawi was grappling with serious economic difficulties, including sharp increases in food prices.

He noted that maize prices, in particular, had placed significant pressure on many households, worsening the cost of living for ordinary citizens.

In addition to food challenges, the country was also experiencing persistent fuel shortages, which disrupted transportation, business operations, and daily life.

According to the group, President Mutharika has shown strong commitment and determination to confront these long-standing issues that citizens have repeatedly raised.

The Concerned Citizens group has also urged cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament to faithfully carry out their duties and responsibilities.

The group emphasized the importance of leaders respecting the views and concerns of the people who entrusted them with public office.

They further called on all leaders to work collaboratively in strengthening the country’s economy, promoting good governance, and advancing Malawi’s overall national development.
