KWARA PDP- CLOSURE OF COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ORO: ABDULRASAQ GOVT HAS CHOSEN SURRENDER OVER LEADERSHIP, URGES GOV TO STEP ASIDE FOR CAPABLE LEADERSHIP RATHER THAN CLOSING INSTITUTION
By Olayiwiola Ibrahim // The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has condemned the directive by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led APC government ordering the closure of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, under the guise of security concerns.
This latest action confirms that the state government is overwhelmed and has summarily surrendered to the dictates of the Bandits and other non state actors that the present administration has no coherent strategy for tackling insecurity and has instead resorted to shutting down educational institutions as a substitute for leadership.
In a statement issued in Ilorin and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to step down if he lacks the capacity, presence, and strategy to tackle insecurity, rather than continue shutting down educational institutions and destroying the future of Kwara youth population.
The College of Education, Oro, is not just a school; it is an economic, social, and intellectual backbone of the host community and entire Kwara south.
Shutting it down under any disguise is an admission that the government has lost control of the security situation and is retreating instead of confronting criminals.

A government that claims to be addressing security challenges cannot justify closing schools while markets and other public spaces remain open.
This selective approach exposes a dangerous lack of seriousness and clear thinking.
It is quite unfortunate that whenever challenges arise, education in Kwara South is the first to be sacrificed.
Even more troubling is the fact that these decisions are taken while the Governor remains largely absent from the state, preferring prolonged stays in the FCT.
We have continuoisly draw his attention to the fact that his prolonged absence has created a leadership vacuum and left communities to suffer the consequences of poor and reactive governance.
The PDP therefore calls on traditional rulers, community leaders, parents, and stakeholders in Kwara to rise up and speak against this backward and dangerous tendency.
Silence at this critical moment would amount to complicity in the destruction of the educational future and economic stability of Kwara south region.
Even if the Governor will not listen , let it be on record that our people speak truth to power when it matters .
No responsible government fights insecurity by closing schools while markets remain open and criminals continue to operate freely.
The party described the recent COED Oro policy as a retreat from governance and an attack on the educational and economic survival of Kwara South.
If the Governor cannot protect lives and property, then honour demands that he steps aside instead of shutting down the future of our children, the party sai
